How to grow with factoring, and what it costs to do it right.
Factoring Insider is a publication for the CFOs, controllers, and owners who fund their next order on invoices they've already earned. We explain how factoring works, what it costs once every fee is counted, and how to read the contract before you sign it.
What we cover
Every factoring company publishes a rate. Almost none publishes the all-in cost, or the contract clauses that move it. Factoring Insider covers the distance between the two. How the advance and the reserve work. What the discount rate runs once the minimum-volume fee, the termination notice, and the wire charges are counted. Which structure fits which ledger, across recourse, non-recourse, spot, and whole-ledger. And how to put factoring to work funding growth, from a first facility to a full receivables program.
Who this is for
CFOs, controllers, and owners of B2B companies with real receivables, most of them weighing factoring after a bank said no, or slow, or a number too small to matter. Some have factored before and been surprised by a fee in month three. Factoring Insider starts from zero and takes you through to a factoring decision that fits your ledger, whether this is your first facility or your third.
What we publish
Four formats, each doing a different job. Guides. The definitive references: what factoring costs, how the contract works, which structure fits, and how to choose a factor. Start here. Articles. Focused pieces on a single decision, from negotiating a contract to exiting one. The blog. Shorter answers to specific questions, from what sets your advance rate to when factoring doesn't fit. Resources. The calculators and checklists, including a cost calculator that runs the arithmetic on your own invoice ledger.
What we do not cover
Factoring Insider covers factoring. It doesn't cover general business news, bookkeeping software, or hiring. Other publications handle those well. This one covers the money on your invoices, and how to use it the right way to grow.
Sources
Figures in Factoring Insider come from the International Factoring Association, the Commercial Finance Association, UCC filing data, the U.S. Small Business Administration, the Federal Reserve's FRED database, and the accounting press, including the Journal of Accountancy and Corporate Finance Institute. Rate figures never come from a factoring company.
